Using Dualless Extension to Split Your Screen

Dualless is an excellent Chrome extension for splitting your screen.
Why would you want students to split their screens?

  • It is perfect for pulling up  digital text on one side and a Google Form on the other.
  • This format is similar to the PARCC assessment.
  • Digital text can be on one screen and a Google Doc or Presentation on the other to take notes, summarize, etc.
  • Try digital text on one side and a shared class Doc on the other to collaborate and start an online discussion.
1. Download the Dualless Chrome extension here. (also available to students)
2.  Open the digital text you want students to read.
3. In another tab, open the form you want students to answer (embedded on your website?) or a Google Doc to take notes.
4.  Click on the Dualless icon  now on your toolbar at the top of your screen.  It looks like  a screen split in two.  Choose how to break apart your screen.  5:5 splits it evenly. See below.

5. Students can now work in both screens simultaneously.
6. You can still open additional tabs and navigate on both sides.
